1. Acer Predator Helios 300 Review – (The Name is Predator, what else do you want)
The first beast that i tracked down for you guys is Acer Predator Helios 300, one of the best gaming laptops with GPU GTX 1060 inside. The crazy thing is about this laptop is that actually it’s priced in the budget gaming laptop category so around the same price as in CRV x15 Lenovo Legion Y 520 and even the dell inspiron seven five six seven. But those laptops you can only expect with the gtx 1050 Ti. I’m quite curious what they had to cut in order to make this laptop sit at that price point and it’s still better or is it still worth it over the budget gaming laptops.
I just mentioned so the helios 300 reminds me of a mix of the more expensive predator the V nitro and a sirs and VX 15, the lid is made out of all metal except for the thin plastic strip at the top. The predator logo sits in the middle with two red lines that look like they light up, but actually don’t the bottom is all plastic but the deck is metal giving this laptop a nice little range feel.
It’s not light at 6 pounds especially when you compare it to the similar spect hov nitro but it’s not super heavy like its bigger more expensive brother either in terms of ports on the left you have a Kevin unlock Ethernet jack one USB type-c port up to five gigabits per second. So it’s not Thunderbolt 3 an HDMI port one USB 3.0 port and an SD card slot.
On the right is your power connector to USB 2.0 ports your audio jack. Now most people who buy this will probably only add a hard drive or swap out the memory so acer has made it really easy to access. On the bottom left is an empty 2.5 inch drive bay with the included brackets on the right is the memory slots which currently has two eight gigabyte DIMMs. But can be upgraded to 32 but for whatever reason if you want to swap out the m2 a main SSD you’ll need to remove the rest of the screws and take off the bottom lip.
There’s a 48 watt hour battery and unlike the HRV nitro the Helios has significantly better cooling. There’s a dual fan but they’re not using a sirs new arrow blade 3D fans fence AeroBlade 3d will be used on a different configuration with overclockable GPUs coming out later this summer. So you can get this into 15 inch or 17 inch configuration. I’ve got the 15 inch model as your review unit. It comes with an i7 7700 HQ processor 16 gigabytes of RAM a 266 gigabyte SSD and a gtx 1060 all for $1100 US. That’s a really good deal considering most best gaming laptops with Gtx 1050 TI starts around the same price.
- One of the best gaming laptops that delivers awesome sound quality.
- It has the most Powerful GTX 1060.
- You don’t have to worry about the ports, it already got Enough.
- Acer Predator Helios 300 got and awesome Heat Management.
- Delivers best performance.
- A bit heavy as compare to other best gaming laptops.
- According to my views it isn’t a best a best choice for designing or other purposes. If you’re a gaming enthusiast, it’s a best choice for you.
- You may need to use external high quality speakers to experience high quality sound.

As for the Keyboard on the GL 703 the ORAC or keyboard controller features, two presets color cycle and breathe as well as full keyboard and zone color customization. Typing is nice the keys are snappy and tactile and the C panel is stiff and has minimal flex down below the track-bad is pretty responsive and the entire track-pad is clickable if you want to right click through, you must use the bottom right corner or do a two-finger click above. We have the B panel and the 17.3 inch anti-glare screen. The screen is very bright and a wide viewing angle of 178 degrees and over colors look good. The body is part plastic and part aluminum but is very stiff and feels really solid. It doesn’t feel heavy or bulky even through it has a 17.3 inch screen. 4. Lenovo Legion Y520 Review – Best Budget Gaming Laptop
So this is Lenovo’s Legion Y520, their mid-tier gaming laptop. And aesthetically, I really like this laptop. It feels nice to hold in your hand, and fingerprints don’t show up too much. There’s a faux carbon-bibber top, and it’s just black everywhere. Even the logo is pretty stealthy.
Most gaming laptops have some kind of red accent on the exterior, this doesn’t. If you pull it out in a lecture hall, or even at work, on one would really notice. I also like the bronze or copper-colored heat sink, which you can see through the back.
It’s a pretty muted vibe to this laptop, until you open it and realize there’s red everywhere. Now to be fair, of all the low-to-mid tier gaming laptops, this has not that much. But, it’s there. The build quality is good, it’s on par with competitors in this price range.
There isn’t anything that feels poorly built; the chassis, the screen, the hinge is good too. Way better than the hinge on the older Y50 or Y700. The display is one of the better looking ones in the sub-$1000 gaming laptop market. 1080p color gamut is kind a mediocre, and even after calibration, color accuracy isn’t the best. But it’s reasonably bright and viewing angles are good because it’s an IPS panel. Bezels aren’t too thick, and the webcam looks like this. The speakers are positioned nicely just below the screen. And when you’re playing games, it sounds like they’re projecting right into your ears. The thing is these lack bass. There’s decent volume but the lower frequencies just aren’t there, even when I’m playing around the EQ.
Basically, any of the more optimized shooters will play really nicely on this system. Something a bit more demanding, like Battlefield 1, you’ll need to drop the graphics too high to get to that 60 FPS zone. But in general, any of the current titles will play nicely on the 1050 Ti, it’s the best value GPU for gaming laptops right now. If you’re editing videos, this is still a great choice, especially because there are two drives in there. But if you’re doing color accurate work, I would totally plug up an external monitor. There is some thermal throttling if you push the device on benchmarks for long enough, but I never noticed it in any games. Even after hours of playing so you should be good.
- Flawless performance.
- It’s a best budget gaming laptop that delivers some awesome features and specs.
- Great design as you can see in the picture.
- Attractive keyboard with smooth buttons and back-lighting.
- Supports USB 2.0, USB 3.0, USB type C and SD card.
- Track-Pad isn’t that impressive.
- The speaker lack bass which is another let down for this machine.
- Comes with small batteries and battery life isn’t that impressive.
5. Lenovo IdeaPad Y700 14inch Review – Lightest Gaming Laptop
Lenovo Y700 is another one of the best gaming laptops that made it to our list. so this model comes in three difference screen sizes a 14inch and 15inch and a 17inch and a 15inch and 17inch both are equipped with sky lake core i7s and both have gtx 960m and that’s a load out that’s been going to be review.
Lenovo Y700 laptop that’s thinner and lighter than your average gaming laptop. Inside the box there’s lots of padding you get the laptop the AC adapter and some pamphlets, the top is a textured plastic finish that looks a little bit like carbon fiber you have to tilt it to see weave it’s pretty subtle and for fake carbon-fiber I think the Lenovo did a good job.
The bottom is the same material plastic with a carbon fiber look there’s a big air intake here and if you remove the screws, you can access the internals inside you have two RAM slots that you can upgrade, they give you an 8 gig stick, so you only have to buy a second stick to hit 16 gigs you replace the hard drive if you want and there’s even an m2 SATA socket.
The is relatively light for a gaming laptop. It comes in at 4.8 pounds and it’s pretty thin for ports on the left we have a power socket, USB 2 ports, audio jack and a system store button and on the right we have a deep SD card slot, a pair of USB 3 ports, full size HDMI ports and an Ethernet jack. On the back some red grill looking thing which I thought were kind of cool but when you pop off that cover it’s just for design, there’s nothing special in here it’s just a hinge.
The screen has a little bit of flex to it, it’s nothing too bad and keyboard area feels well-made. I am not a big fan of the screen hinges being close together like this like you can put some unwanted force on the hinge every time you open it but the build quality is good so it’s probably not an issue. So it has core i7 running at 2.6 gigahertz a 14inch 1080p screen AMD m375 graphics chip, 8gb RAM, 500 gb storage and it goes for approx. $800 US.
And lastly there’s a 40 watt hour battery that lasts about 3.5 hours of regular use okay so the AMD chip that’s inside this thing is a decent performer but it’s not as powerful as 960 M. So if you’re looking for like a the best value best bang for your buck gaming performance this won’t be it you can get a 15inch gaming laptop and will have 960M, If you are looking for a gaming laptop that’s is still really portable and powerful, this is one of very few options and this is actually a pretty good choice and the best thing about it all is that Lenovo has really big sales once in a while and you can probably get this thing for like 650.
- Good performance.
- Good in price.
- Awesome design.
- Nice display.
- Easy to use keyboard and track-pad.
- Satisfactory battery life.
- Nice speakers.
- You have to keep the graphics a bit low when playing heavy games.
Best Gaming Laptops 2018 Buyer’s Guide
Creating a best gaming laptops list wasn’t an easy job. In-fact it took us a long time. We also tested some of the gaming laptops. From testing to creating and designing, it took us around a month to create the list and publish some decent reviews for you guys. Here are some important factors that you should always look for in a best gaming laptop.
Graphics Processor: A best gaming laptop should always have fast loading graphics and graphics processor is the most important component that is responsible for this. The more frames per second the graphics card loads, the faster the system and the better it supports the heavy games. One of the best graphics processors that you can look through as an example is NVidia 900 series.
RAM: It’s another one of the most important components that is responsible for the performance of the machine. Laptops with low RAM is just a headache. You might have experienced those old generation laptops that always lags in performance when you run multiple and heavy processes on it. It’s obvious that the new generation laptops are much better in performance because of it’s memory even when you run heavy processes on it.
Processor: Just like Graphics processor, Processor is another important component that is responsible for performing different task. Yes, GPU has great contribution in the performance of the laptop but when it comes to task management, processor is the king. i5 and i7 comes with the same processors but i7 is way better than i5 because of it’s model difference. so i would i always recommend i7 over i5.
Storage State Drive: Buying a laptop with SSD is a good idea. Because it helps in loading your games faster. Not just the loading time of the games but it’s also good for overall system’s performance. So laptops with SSD are strongly recommended.
